Flash, a K-9 Hero Visit Edgewood Schools

even Mile Elementary and Babeck Early Childhood Center received a visit this morning from Flash, one of our nation's retired Police K-9s, and his handler, Jason Johnson. They spent time with our students and staff answering questions about the work Flash had performed when she was an active Police dog with Jason. Jason founded Project K-9 Hero. This non-profit organization provides assistance with medical costs, food and end of duty services for retired police and military working dog heroes. Jason has written a book that shares the adventures of Flash when she was an active Police K-9. He provided each school with an autographed copy of his book, "K-9 Flash Becomes a Hero!" Everyone who attended was so attentive during Jason's presentation and were so excited to meet Flash! It was a true honor to get to meet two of our country's heroes today! If you'd like, you can vote online at the link below for Flash. She is nominated as the 2018 American Humane Law Enforcement Dog of the Year. Voting continues through April 25.

Our New Kindness Club

Our Seven Mile 2nd and 3rd Graders are so excited to be a part of our new Kindness Club! The students are having so much fun making a difference!!! Mrs. Megan Rosenthal, our school counselors, started this club for our students. She said, "Each week our goal is to complete "kindness challenges". Our first two weeks consisted of writing Thank You notes to friends, family, and staff members as well as reading to Kindergarten classrooms. We are so appreciative of the kindness shown by one of our 3rd grader's mom and grandmother. They donated Kindness shirts to our students. It great to see how contagious kindness has become!"

Enhancing Blackboard Communications from Edgewood

Edgewood uses the Blackboard system as our primary communication tool for notifying our parents, students and staff about upcoming events, activities, student attendance, as well as crisis communications. These communications are issued as emails, text messages and/or phone calls, based on an individual's preference. As part of our safety and security strategy, we use the Blackboard system, in addition to our website (www.edgewoodschools.com) and our district's Facebook page (facebook.com/EdgewoodCitySchools), to issue crisis communication.
